ETUG – The European Trados User Group
Having been a loose gathering of professional users of Trados originating at the turn of the millennium from a proposal by SAP AG to initiate a corporate TRADOS user forum, the first edition of ETUG was held in October 2002 in Heidelberg. Until the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the event was held on an annual basis, on each occasion being hosted by a member institution. Past editions of ETUG were held in Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Maastricht, Berlin, Brussels, Vienna and Düsseldorf. During the pandemic two virtual editions of ETUG were held.
It was decided that to secure ETUG’s long-term existence to form an Austrian Association in 2022. Under Austrian Association law, ETUG is required to have an elected Board, consisting of two full members. In December 2023, at the Extraordinary General Meeting, Julia Traub-Teubl (Plasser und Theurer) was elected as Chairperson and Secretary General, with Anita Wilson (Eurocom) elected as Deputy Chairperson and Treasurer. They were re-elected for a second term at the General Meeting held during ETUG 2025. The Association’s statutes can be found here.
The Board is assisted by a voluntary Steering Committee, the members of which are either full or associate members of ETUG, and which helps with the organisation of ETUG events. The current membership of the Steering Committee is as follows:
- Michael Bailey
- Kerstin Berns
- Helen Brown
- Frank Drefs
- Ralf Lemster
In addition to organising a conference every other year – the most recent ETUG Conference having been held in September 2025 in Vienna. In 2026 we are holding a second series of ETUG Bitesize events throughout the year.
